About Me
Hello! My name is Sarah Dykhuizen and I an am actress, dramaturg, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
As an actress, I love classical theater and Shakespeare, but I also love to see what new stories humans cook up. Recently I have been in Trojan Women By Euripides as Pallas Athena, Knight of the Burning Pestle as the Host and any others, and The Secretaries as Ashley. I also have performed in Unrehearsed Shakespeare performances such as Helena in A Midsummer's Night Dream and Laertes in Hamlet. In May 2025, I will graduate from Ohio University with my BFA in Theater Performance: Acting with a minor in English. There, I spent time training in the full Meisner progression, Devising new work, improving my voice, and surprisingly, finding myself liking improv. I also continued working on my singing pipes by taking voice lessons at the Ohio University School of Music.
Because I love old stuff, I continued my training by attending the Summer Intensive at Shakespeare and Company. Even though it was 12 hours a day, six days a week, I couldn't get enough. I spent time working on my voice in the full Linklater progression, working on Shakespearean text analysis, image work, work in the elements, clowning, and even dipping my toes into some Elizabethan dance.
Outside of acting, I enjoy reading. On my favorite's shelf is Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Persuasion, If We Were Villains, and the Darker Shade of Magic series. I also love video games and nerdy things. I'll talk to you for ages about comics, Star Wars, sports (Who Dey!), Classic Women's Literature, and the countless other things bobbing in around of my brain. I'm just someone with a lot of passion and always looking to learn more.
